Cheryshev: “We're doing a good job in training and working intensely. It has to be reflected in the games"
Denis Cheryshev returned to action in the game against Villarreal CF, having had to watch on from the sidelines in the previous four LaLiga games. The Russian is ready to contribute for Valencia CF, and most of all is pleased to be back amongst the rest of the squad.
“I'm very happy to be back with my teammates. It's tough when you're away, and you suffer when the results don't come. There are times in which the team lose and you want to be able to help them on the pitch. Now I'm back with my teammates and I'm happy and feeling good. I'm looking forward to helping,” he told VCF Media on Monday.
The attacker enjoyed minutes in the regional derby, and is now prepared to play this Friday against Elche. Whilst not looking too far ahead, Cheryshev is determined for the team to pick up the three points.
“Every game is a final for us, and we only look at the next game. Next up for us is Elche and we only want the three points. Nothing else will do.
Looking at the table, there have been a lot of surprises and teams who weren't taken into consideration at the start, who are at the top. We want to focus on our own work and win, which is the important thing for us. We want Valencia CF as high up the table as possible. To do that, we need to start by winning on Friday.”
It is still early days in the 2020/21 LaLiga season, and Cheryshev believes that a run of victories could be just around the corner.
“We're doing a good job in training and working intensely. It has to be reflected in the games. We're picking up the coach's ideas more all the time, and we're keen for things to work out. We are working for that, and I think that everything will go well if we have that mentality.”
